Sounds more conciliatory.

Great excitement in Australia ahead of the Grand Slam tournament which kicks off on Monday 8th February.

The tennis players, who have been in the country for a long time, have finished their isolation period and over the weekend, showcase games were held in Adelaide, in front of about 4,000 spectators.

For every day of the Australian Championship, 25-30 thousand spectators will come.

"I was shivering when I went on the pitch in Adelaide and saw so many people in the stands," said Novak Djokovic. "I was excited to play in front of an audience after almost 12 months. I've been playing professional tennis for more than 15 years and it's one of my most powerful and inspiring experiences.

Djokovic has annoyed quite a few people with criticism of the isolation conditions the tennis players needed, but now sounds more conciliatory: "I am grateful that we have the opportunity to train and play here, and compete in the industry we love so much. We are all excited to be here."

The 33-year-old Serb, who is ranked No. 1 in the world, will try to defend the title he has won in the last two years.

He has won the Grand Slam in Melbourne 8 times - more than anyone in history, and will try to lift his ninth title, 13 years after doing so for the first time.
