Shocking exposure in Spain: "El Mundo" announces this morning (Sunday) the last contract of Lionel Messi in Barcelona, which reveals sensational details.
The contract, a copy of which was leaked to the newspaper, was signed in November 2017 and will be valid until June 30 this year.
The numbers are no less astonishing: under the contract, Messi's total salary can reach 555 million euros - making him the largest contract in the history of professional sports, in all industries.
Under the contract, Messi earns an annual salary of no less than 138 million euros gross.
Bento, this is 75 million euros - well above what has been reported regarding his salary in the past, and far above any other footballer in the world (Cristiano Ronaldo, for example, earns Juventus about 30 million euros net per season).
Messi's weekly salary stands at 2.5 million euros.
Equally amazing are the fat bonuses he won too when he signed the contract with the infamous President Josep Maria Bartomeu.
For example, Messi received a signing grant of 115 million euros (!), And pocketed an additional 78 million euros due to the "trust" clause.
The contract also included a number of particularly high bonuses for winning the Champions League, which did not happen during the contract years.
Still, Messi has already promised revenue of 511 million euros, about 92 percent of the amount promised to him in the contract.

El Mundo cover, this morning: "Messi's contract destroys Barça" (Photo: screenshot, from Twitter)
According to El Mundo's publication, which published parts of the 30-page contract, Messi's copy contract "destroys Barcelona" and "brings it closer to bankruptcy".
As you may recall, in recent weeks Barcelona's huge debts have been reported, estimated at over a billion euros, leaving the club's future vague.
The publication provoked angry reactions in Barcelona and Spain.
Alongside criticisms of "greed" from Messi, there were also those who pointed an accusing finger at then-President Bartomeu, whose contract he gave to his big star got the club into a lot of trouble.
At the same time, journalist Giam Blaga (BBC) claims that "Barcelona is not on the verge of bankruptcy because of Messi's salary, but because its management has been shocking over the years".
Indeed, Barça has in recent years made costly and glittering acquisitions in large sums, many of which have not justified themselves.
For example, € 122 million was paid for Osman Dembele, € 120 million for Antoine Griezmann, € 150 million for Filipe Coutinho and a host of other signings that did not meet expectations.
In total, since Neymar left Barcelona "spent" 767 million euros on procurement, which certainly deepened the budget hole.

Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Pont also responded to the publicity and tweeted late at night: "Leo Messi has honestly earned every euro Barça paid him. He did not ruin us, the opposite is true - he is the best player in history, and we want him to stay with us forever."
