Liverpool FC announced the absence of Cameroonian defender Joel Matip for the remainder of the 2020-2021 season due to an ankle ligament injury.
And the club's official website quoted the club's coach, Jürgen Klopp, as saying: "Based on the assessment of specialist doctors for Joel's injury, he will be out for the rest of the season, but he will be ready for the preparation period for next season."
Matip was injured as he intervened to stop South Korean Tottenham striker Son Heung-min in the first half of the match that ended with Liverpool's 3-1 victory in London last Thursday.
