On the one hand, one might think that Danny Abdia's season opener is a much bigger success than everyone expected - he opened all 12 games available to them and gets 22.5 minutes per game.

Compared to early, relatively optimistic forecasts - of integration in rotation and about 15 minutes per evening - it looks great.

On top of that, in his two weaknesses he is meanwhile doing a much better job than expected.

Beyond the arc, he started the season with 16 of 37 for three (an amazing 43.2%), and on defense he is fifth on the team in steals, fourth on defensive rebound, and no Wizards player has had more minutes than him so far and puts a better "team defensive index" in his minutes on The pitch confirms her loss.

And it also catches the eye test - Abdia's defense, not only as a team, with good movement and position and alertness, but occasionally even on a personal level (despite a lack of athleticism and length), is satisfactory.

But the truth is that if you look a little deeper, you find that the situation that Abdia is in right now - right after the stunning 146: 149 victory of the weak Washington over the Brooklyn Nets superstars (without James Harden) - is perhaps even less good than the previous cautious predictions Season opening.

Begins but does not end

In many ways, the game against the Hunts - in which Abdia returned to the floor after a three-week hiatus due to Corona's limitations straight to the top five - demonstrates well what does not look good at the moment in terms of the rookie.

First, he did go up in the top five again - but got less than 16 minutes and returned 1 of 4 from the field and only 2 points.

This is in line with the negative trend that Abdia is in.

In his first six games he played 26.2 minutes per game, scoring nearly 8 points in 5.5 shots per game.

In the last six - just since he celebrated 20 - he is on 5.3 points with the same number of shots (less than a point per shot), over less than 19 minutes per game and with a poor field goal percentage of 36.4%.

And secondly, he was again not on the floor in the final and crucial minutes - this time losing his place seven minutes to the end to Garrison Matthews, who is taking more and more time off the pitch, who earlier this season was lost.

In general, the fact that Abdia spends most of his minutes with the Wizards' quintet, and against the opposing quintet, really does not play in his favor at this stage of his career.

While this shows coach Scott Brooks trusts him to face the highest level the rivals have to offer in opening games, and that gives the Israeli rookie an important experience - but no doubt in terms of his personal numbers and momentum, a few more minutes against substitutes from the other side would help.

And the fact that he shares most of his time on the floor with Bradley Bill and Russell Westbrook probably does not help.

Of the 270 minutes he played until (and including) the incredible victory over the Nets, 83% of his minutes he spent alongside at least one of them, 42% alongside both (compared to 28% who were both on the floor when Abdia was not playing).

And this is trouble.

First of all, because despite what the two did in the dramatic end against Brooklyn, the Bill Westbrook combination still does not work this season and in 256 minutes together so far, the two stars have a negative plus-minus balance together.

He remains negative even when I am lost with them.

There were hardly any crumbs left

Worse, it's what it looks like lost on the hardwood, as everything goes through Westbrook and Bill, and others are left crumbling.

Westbrook stands this season at 31.6 percentages ("usability") - 9th in the league.

And Bill - who is even less of a coordinator than Westbrook (in other words: he is not close at all) has become the biggest "ball pig" (direct translation from Ball Hog) this season in the league, with a monstrous 37.6%.

When both are on the field, more than two-thirds of all attacks end in either a shot or the loss of one of them.

And while Westbrook delivers more than 60 times per game (8th in the league), he also gets 73 dedications per game (4 in the league).

And Bill delivers only 42 times per game (even fewer inside players John Collins or Andre Drummond) and gets 60 dedications - a pretty scary ratio of almost 1.5 dedications he gets for each one he gives.

All of these numbers say, or actually confirm, what you see on the floor, and that is that in most of Avdia’s minutes on the field he is nothing more than a standout.

A statistician, but one who barely accumulates statistics.

Most of the time he stands in the corner, waiting for a few balls to reach him when Labil and Westbrook run out of other options.

As long as Abdia continues to deteriorate in his numbers, playing a minimal role where it is difficult to see his contribution, any Wizards win that includes good basketball - even on the part of some guys like Matthews - will make it even harder to see what will bring some change in momentum.

What will Abdia be able to comfort in the meantime?

In this we all - as it turned out for the who-knows-how time - are pretty bad at predicting what's going to happen.
