The combined martial arts industry, MMA, is the fastest growing sport in the world today.
The popularity of the industry is gaining momentum day by day mainly thanks to the UFC organization which attracts fans from all over the world to see the best fighters meet in the arena.
Also, the UFC were even the first sports league to return to full activity under health restrictions with the spread of the corona plague worldwide.
The popularity of the MMA industry has led to the establishment of an International Association (IMAAF) under which local associations are registered in over 60 countries around the world, responsible for the development of the industry within the amateur framework.
Now, Israel is also joining IMMAF, when in December 2020 the final approval is given for the establishment of an association in Israel: ISR - MMAF.
A combination of winning forces selected the incumbents, with businessman Gilad Har Oz appointed chairman, former coach and fighter Ido Freinta serving as CEO, Almog Maimon as operations director, Itzik Rubinov serving as competition director and digital director, Ziv Hashai appointed as board member and finance director and man Business Erez Elroy as a member of the board.
The Israeli Association strives to provide a professional platform that accompanies local athletes in terms of professional, physical, mental, financial development and more.
It is also a goal that the MMA industry will be perceived in the Israeli consciousness as a professional industry in which the most talented and athletic athletes are located, and while gaining the state's recognition and support in the industry.
The ambition is that in the near future, in a joint effort with the World Union and all its member states, this industry will reach the Olympics.
The association is working to establish an Israeli team (women, men and youth) with the best athletes in the field over the next two years, who will represent Israel at European and world championships.
At the same time, there will be about 5 competitions a year in Israel, with the union's intention to combine all martial arts clubs in the country under one roof.
Operations Manager Almog Maimon proudly said: "We are happy to be the ones to put this industry in the place it deserves, and to show Israelis and the whole world that there is fine human material here, talented and quality fighters who can reach the highest levels."
