Thomas Dreßen is there again.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen - Finally he can again!

The German ski star Thomas Dreßen reports that he is fit - and may already provide a surprise this weekend this World Cup winter.

The German Ski Association (DSV) nominated the Mittenwald for the home races in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

After his hip operation and rehab, last year's winner should first complete the training for the shot drive on the Kandahar.

“We want to see how his body reacts to the loads over the full race distance.

Then we will decide together whether a start on the downhill is possible and sensible, ”said national coach Christian Schwaiger on Wednesday.

The race is planned for Saturday (11.30 a.m.).

Hopefully the slope will be in good condition by then.

Because the first planned training on Wednesday had to be canceled.

Warm temperatures and rain had affected individual passages on the route - with the cancellation, the organizers want to protect the slope.

For the night on Thursday, colder temperatures are predicted, it said.

Hopefully training can take place on Thursday.

A Super-G is on the program in Garmisch on Friday.

In addition to Dreßen, Romed Baumann (Kiefersfelden), Andreas Sander (Ennepetal), Josef Ferstl (Hammer), Dominik Schwaiger (Königssee), Manuel Schmid (Fischen) and Simon Jocher (Garmisch) were nominated.

Dreßen has not contested a race this winter after undergoing hip surgery at the end of November.

Most recently, the 27-year-old, who won the downhill run in Garmisch twelve months ago, returned to ski training.

After the home races, Dreßen's goal is to start next week in Cortina d'Ampezzo as well.
