Ligue 1: Alvaro Gonzalez would have insulted a police officer

2021-02-03T19:04:41.915Z

Already accused of racist remarks towards Neymar during the match against PSG in September, the Marseille defender has again slipped in

The atmosphere is more and more electric in Marseille.

Even pathetic.

After the degradations at the Commanderie this weekend by supporters which led to the postponement of the match against Rennes, then the dismissal as a precaution of the coach André Villas-Boas - who had himself presented his resignation in a thunderous way a few moments before at a press conference - it is Alvaro Gonzalez's turn to be sadly noticed.

According to Nice-Matin, the Marseille defender would have insulted a police officer this Wednesday morning.

The altercation would have taken place at Marseille airport, where the group was preparing to head for Lens where OM are playing this Wednesday evening in the league.

Arrived on site without a mask, the player would have got angry with the representative of the border police who asked him to respect the barrier gestures.

The Spaniard would have initially refused to comply before attacking the person directly.

He would have first insulted him in Spanish, calling him several times "Hijo de puta" before continuing in Pagnol's language: "That's how you greet us, son of a bitch.

"

Contempt complaint

The player finally agreed to put on his mask following the intervention of a member of the Marseille team.

But he allegedly continued to utter insults in his mother tongue at the policeman while pointing his finger at him.

Alvaro Gonzalez was fined for not wearing a mask and a complaint for contempt of a person holding public authority was also filed.

The Marseille defender is a repeat offender because it is not the first time that he has been involved in this type of business.

In September, he had been at the heart of a controversy with Neymar.

The Brazilian star of PSG had accused his opponent of having made racist remarks against him at the end of the match.

The disciplinary committee of the Professional League had subsequently kicked in, deeming itself incompetent to judge the case.

His aura with Marseille supporters was at its highest.

The situation has since evolved.

Last weekend, when OM's Robert-Louis-Dreyfus training center was invaded, Alvaro, who had gone to meet the supporters, was attacked.

Jostled, the Spanish defender was not injured, however.

A few days before the clasico, Sunday, the tension is increasingly strong in the Marseille club.
