It happened last spring.
In the middle of the corona crisis, the head of the German Football League (DFL), Christian Seifert, dreamed of a new world of football.
Game operations in the professional leagues were suspended because of the Covid 19 pandemic.
Many clubs ran into financial difficulties due to a lack of income.
In an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Seifert stated that it might be time to reform the football business.
The clubs must learn to operate more sustainably in order to be better equipped for hard times in the future.
"We don't just want to somehow get through the crisis and then carry on as before," promised Seifert.
A few months later, in September 2020, the DFL set up the Professional Football Taskforce.
The 37-strong panel of experts, including politicians, club managers, economists and fan representatives, worked out suggestions on how to bring the Bundesliga clubs to more »cost discipline« and »social responsibility«.
The eagerly anticipated »results report« of the group is now ready.
