The biathlete Magdalena Neuner is both a record world champion and a double Olympic champion.

was born on February 9, 1987 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

biathlete

Neuner was the second of four children to Paul and Margit Neuner.
The family lives in Wallgau, within the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district.
Even as a child, the biathlete spent a lot of time in nature with her cousin Albert.
Thanks to numerous hikes and bike trips, she became more and more enthusiastic about sporting activities.
Magdalena Neuner started skiing when she was four.
Together with her mother, she went cross-country skiing tours on the nearby trails, which she had a lot of fun with.
At the age of nine, she was also enthusiastic about biathlon.

Neuner himself states that the
Olympic Winter Games
in Nagano in 1998 made them decide to one day take the place of one of these biathletes and win a medal.
In 2003
Magdalena Neuner completed
her school education with secondary school leaving certificate and henceforth concentrated on her career in competitive sport.
In the same year she was accepted into the
DSV
's
C-squad
.
Seven junior and four vice-junior world championships followed.
In 2005 the
biathlete
celebrated
her debut at the
World Cup
and in the following season 2006/2007 she was part of the
German national team
.
It followed their first participation in a world championship.
She won three
gold medals
in Antholz
, one each in the
sprint
, one in the
pursuit
and one in the
relay
.

Before she left competitive sport, Neuner received nine more
gold medals
at
world championships

2008 in Östersund: mass start, mixed relay, relay
2010 in Khanty-Masijsk: mixed relay
2011 in Kanthy Mansiysk: sprint, mass start, relay
2012 in Ruhpolding: Sprint, relay
That makes Magdalena Neuner the
record world champion

There were also three
overall World Cup victories

goodbye to competitive sports and pursued new goals from then on.
This included the acquisition of a
trainer license

Neuner passed the associated final exam in
Oberhof that

Nevertheless, she ruled out a return to professional sport as a biathlon trainer.

customs officer was
involved as a volunteer ambassador for various social projects, represented selected sponsors at events and completed photo shoots and other advertising shoots.

Magdalena Neuner
has been in a relationship with master carpenter Josef Holzer since 2009.
In March 2014 both were civilly married in Wallgau.
The former
biathlete
took her husband's name but continues to use her maiden name in public.
The couple's first daughter was born two months after the wedding.
The church wedding of the two followed in October 2015.
Their first son saw the light of day a year later, in November 2016.
