The Lakers and Clippers may not have met for the playoff series that the entire NBA was waiting for last season, but that does not mean there is no bad blood between the teams.
In Jared Dudley's new book from the Lakers, he reveals the reason for the tension between the players of the two teams, who are also hoping to fight for the championship this season.
In the book, Dudley writes that in the Lakers' locker room they felt that Clippers star Paul George was "behaving contemptuously toward them," when he declared on the eve of last season's opening that the Clippers are the favorites in the West.
According to Dudley, that statement gave LeBron James and his teammates more fuel in the championship campaign.
"We heard some of the guys there talk about how the team should win in Los Angeles, and it did us some good. To hear it from McWay who won the championship, that's okay. We were not surprised to hear it from a trash talk fan like Patrick Beverly. "And we respected his fighting spirit. But when it came from Paul George, one who didn't win the championship, it seemed like disrespect. At the same time, Dudley realizes that the NBA needs a playoff series between the Lakers and the Clippers, and matches between LeBron James and Anthony Davis and Kwai Leonard and Paul George.
So far this season, they both look very good and populate 3rd and 2nd places in the West, with only Utah ahead of them.
"The league needs a series like that. The league needs us to play against the Clippers in the series, and then against Brooklyn. We really appreciate both teams."

The Clippers reacted contemptuously to Dudley's remarks.
After tonight's win over Cleveland, Paul George Balconies responded to the remarks.
