That was a surprise: EC Peiting won the league home game against the "Selber Wölfe" - and also ended a black series in terms of "overtime".

That was a surprise: EC Peiting won the league home game against the "Selber Wölfe" - and also ended a black series in terms of "overtime".

Peiting - what a shame that the "Oh, how beautiful is that" only came from the tape and not from the throats of the fans - Corona does not allow viewers.

A polyphonic choir and jubilation in the stands would have been the perfect setting for this Peitinger success.

With a 1-0 win after extra time, the ECP had defeated the favored "Selber Wolves" - who came as leaders of the table.

Coach Sebastian Buchwieser's team had shown a strong defensive performance.

In view of the greater number of better scoring opportunities, the success was ultimately well deserved.

After four overtime defeats this season, it was Peiting's first two-point win.

From the start they put enormous pressure on themselves, ECP goalkeeper Florian Hechenrieder had a lot to do.

But after a good five minutes - Peiting had survived an outnumbered situation early on (2nd) - the hosts managed to balance the game.

Nardo Nagtzaam, Thomas Heger and Lukas Gohlke targeted the leader's box.

Daniel Reichert (9th) had the best opportunity in the first ECP power play.

A little later then luck for Peiting in a post shot by Selber (11th).

But as a result, the home side turned up - and in view of the following chances, the ECP could have been ahead in the first third break.

The best opportunity had 15 seconds before the siren Nagtzaam, who failed free-standing by keeper Michael Weidekamp and hit the post while pursuing.

In the middle third, the Peitinger team kept the "wolves" away from their own goal for a very long time.

The ECP, on the other hand, had a good opportunity through Reichert, who withdrew from the rotation (27th).

Immediately afterwards Thomas Heger tried the “pawn trick”, but the puck stayed in front of the line, even if some of the Peitingers were already cheering (28th).

Selb only came dangerous here and there.

Jan Hammerbauer appeared free-standing in front of Hechenrieder once, but remained second winner (36th).

Shortly before the end of the third, Peiting - as in section one - put pressure again.

A long-range shot from Andreas Feuerecker (40th), however, fended off the keeper.

At the start of the final third, the Peitinger team presented themselves right at the top.

After good preparatory work by the strong Gohlke, Simon Maier shot dangerously on goal (44th).

Aziz Ehliz had a lot of bad luck: Similar to Nagtzaam in the first third, he failed first at the goalkeeper and then at the post (46th).

It became explosive when Peitings Pius Seitz received a two-plus-two penalty (50th).

But the ECP demonstrated impressively why it is in second place in the league for penalty killing.

He skilfully defended his own goal, Hechenrieder destroyed the few opportunities he had himself.

The ECP goalkeeper was then also on the post at the beginning of extra time when the guests dominated.

Ironically, a goal of the same post then initiated a Peitinger countermove, at the end of which Nagtzaam (63rd) scored the much-acclaimed winner.
