Club World Cup: Bayern in search of a new title

2021-02-07T14:55:18.794Z

The Club World Cup begins today in Doha, this annual competition which brings together the six continental winners. It's time for the semi-finals from 7 p.m., with the entry into the running of the reigning European champions with the hope of succeeding Liverpool, winner of the last ...

"We absolutely want to play this tournament and win it" Hansi Flick made it clear that Bayern Munich's ambitions for the Club World Cup were clear.

The Bavarian coach knows the importance of winning this new trophy, synonymous with the sixth title in order to "crown an extraordinary season".

To achieve this, the reigning European champions enter the competition tonight (7 p.m.) in the semi-final against Egyptian club Ah Ahly.

No "excuses" for Bayern

The German team won everything last season, and intends to continue on this path as the lead Joshua Kimmich "We are very lucky to be able to write history".

The Bavarians remain on a five-game winning streak and an airport mishap before flying to Qatar.

The group remained blocked for several hours before taking off.

Fatigue is no “excuse” for Hansi Flick, however, despite Bayern's crowded schedule.

In the other semi-final of the World Cup, this will be the first participation for both clubs.

Palmeiras faces the Monterey Tigers.

The Mexican team won the CONCACAF Champions League last December.

André-Pierre Gignac's teammates won in the quarterfinals against the South Koreans of Hyundai Ulsan (2-1) thanks to a double from the French striker, top scorer in the club's history.

"For us, tomorrow's match is like a final to reach the first goal," said Guido Pizarro, Tigres midfielder.

American duel for a place in the final

The Tigers will therefore try to reach this first “level”, which no Mexican club has achieved in the history of international competition.

As for Palmeiras, the South American representative goes directly to the semi-finals like Bayern, having won the Copa Libertadores recently.

“For us, being here is a challenge, but also a great satisfaction.

The reward is there and the group is ambitious ”according to Abel Ferreira, the coach of the Brazilian club.

This will go through a great performance, starting tonight, in this duel of the two Americas.

If Bayern Munich is placed as the big favorite of the last four of this Club World Cup, the Bavarians are not immune to a surprise from one of the two formations of the American continent.

Start of the semi-finals this evening at 7 p.m., on one side Bayern-Ah Ahly, on the other Palmeiras-Tigres.
