Liverpool's stuttering season received a winning stamp tonight.
The proud champion from last season was defeated 4-1 at home by Manchester City, in a match that provided the official stamp for the exchange of guards in England between the outgoing champions (apparently) and the incoming champions (very likely).
Gonduane's penalty miss still kept Klopp alive until the half, but in the second half the Citizens danced on the field with a double over the German midfielder (9 goals this season), and goals from Sterling and Poden.
Allison, who returned to between the posts after missing Brighton, made two terrible mistakes that led to direct expatriates.

The numbers
* Liverpool have lost three games in a row at home - something that has not happened since September 1963!
Her worst streak at Anfield is four losses, and that happened in 1923.
* Manchester City have beaten Anfield for the first time since May 2003. Other than that win, their previous 29 visits to Liverpool have had 19 losses and nine draws.
* This is the first time Liverpool have absorbed a home quartet in the Premier League since October 2005. Then it was Jose Mourinho's Chelsea who won 1-4.
* This is the first time Liverpool have conceded four goals in a row from away teams and have not won in the middle themselves, since April-May 1999. Then there were five such goals.
* Goalkeeper Allison made two mistakes that led to a goal in the same game.
To date he has had only four such mistakes in the Premier League: two in 2018, one in 2019 and one in 2020.
* Manchester City absorbed after 603 minutes in which they kept a clean sheet.
* Ilkai Gonduane scored his first goal of the season on December 15, and since then he has scored another eight in less than two months - two more than any other player in that period.
Phil Foden, 20 and 255 days old, has become the youngest player to score and cook in a Premier League game against Liverpool at Anfield.
* Raheem Sterling is the third player to score more than 100 goals in all competitions under Pep Guardiola.
He was preceded by Lionel Messi (211) and Sergio Aguero (120).
* Pep Guardiola in the best winning streak of his career - 14. He did not have such an amount even during the peak period in Barcelona.

* This is Manchester City's highest win at Anfield since March 1937. So the result was 0: 5 in favor of the Blues.
* Liverpool are the first champions to lose three home games since it happened to Chelsea, somewhere in March 1956.
* Manchester City equaled the English record of consecutive victories in all competitions with 14 such - like Preston at the end of 1892 and Arsenal at the end of 1987.
