Less than two months before the game against the Israeli team in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, it is still unclear who will coach the Moldovan team.

The local football association has made a final decision to part ways with coach Angin Pirate and has not yet appointed a replacement.

The Turkish Pirate stood on the lines of the Moldovan national team from October 2019 and in 11 games led it to 2 draws and 9 losses.

Discussions began last week in the Moldovan association regarding his future and the vast majority of members of the local locating committee voted in favor of parting.

The Moldovan association has several candidates, including ex-Maccabi Haifa and Hapoel Tel Aviv, Sergei Kalashchenko, who coaches the young team.

Other names that have come up are Italian Roberto Bourdain and legendary former striker Oleg Protasov.

Kalashchenko, considered the leading candidate and outgoing coach Pirate also said: "I think Sergei should get the job. He is a modern coach and I strongly believe in him."

Kalashchenko played for Maccabi Haifa from 1999-2001 and won the championship with them.

He later moved to Hapoel Tel Aviv for two years and was part of the famous European journey in the 2001/02 season, during which he won victories over Chelsea and Milan.

He also played half a season for Bnei Yehuda.

Moldova is considered the weakest team in the sixth house in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers and in general in Europe.

After hosting the Faroe Islands and hosting Denmark, she will play against Israel on March 31 in Chisinau.

The two teams met in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers and Israel won 1: 2 away and 1: 3 at home.

The last game between them, a friendly match in June 2017, ended in 1: 1.
