Coupe de France: Lorient continues but Reims goes by the wayside

2021-02-09T20:31:08.409Z

Lorient has validated his ticket for the round of 16 of the Coupe de France by dominating Paris FC (2-1). Valencienne created a surprise by coming to win in Reims (4-3).

Lorient, who eliminated Paris FC (L2) 2-1, and Valenciennes (L2), who went to win in Reims 4-3, opened with fanfare on Tuesday the ball of the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France in half of the table reserved for professional clubs.Lyon was to meet AC Ajaccio (L2) in the evening and the big posters will be for Wednesday, with Paris SG, defending champion, expected in Caen (L2), and a very tempting visit from the Olympique de Marseille to Auxerre (L2).

The Lorientais, in the wake of their good series in Ligue 1, were led 1-0 in Brittany then managed to turn the tide at the end of the match thanks to an equalizing penalty from Wissa (71st) before a shot in the top corner by Moffi (83rd), who had just come into play.

Meanwhile, Valenciennes offered a nostalgic streak at the expense of Reims (4-3), during a completely crazy, old-fashioned match, punctuated by seven goals including four for the guys from the North. Dia for Reims, at the very end of the match (85th, 90th), restarted everything, but VA managed to keep until the end the decisive advantage created by the superb 4-1 goal, scored by Kevin Cabral (81st) .

The fifteen winning pros clubs will meet again in the round of 16, on March 6 and 7, the 17 lucky ones chosen from the amateur path and National 1 clubs who will emerge victorious in the 8th round between them, on February 13 and 14.

These two separate and new paths were put in place because of the health situation which for a long time caused the interruption of amateur football.
