The San Isidro attorney general's office opened an investigation at the end of November to determine responsibility for Maradona's death.

After the surgeon and the psychiatrist of Diego Maradona, three new caregivers are now targeted by the investigation for manslaughter, after the death of the football legend last November, said a judicial source quoted Monday by the local press.

After the neurosurgeon and the psychiatrist

Neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque and psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov were the first two people targeted by the investigation, now extended to a psychologist and two nurses (a man and a woman) present during the last days of the Argentine legend.

The San Isidro Attorney General's Office opened an investigation at the end of November to determine responsibility for the death of Maradona, who died of a heart problem on November 25, 2020 at the age of 60 at his residence in Tigre, north of Buenos Aires.

The procedure was initiated after the testimonies of three daughters of Maradona, Dalma, Gianinna and Jana, and seeks to determine possible negligence or recklessness in the medical treatment administered to the Argentine N.10.The three new suspects are to appear before the office of the prosecutor this week, again according to the judicial source.

After his questioning, the neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque had defended himself by invoking his efforts to help "an unmanageable patient".

Operated in early November for a hematoma on the head, the 1986 world champion died a few weeks later as a result of “secondary acute pulmonary edema and exacerbated chronic heart failure”.
