"We do not play, we do not pay": the world of amateur football rings the bell

While some clubs in the Grand-Est region are windy and refuse to pay the last part of their contributions to their League, c

A wind of revolt is blowing from the east of France and could soon reach the Paris region.

Earlier this week, many amateur football clubs located in Alsace decided not to pay their supervisory league the costs claimed by the latter.

The reason for this movement lies in two sentences: “We don't play, we don't pay.

"

A rallying cry which, a few weeks before the elections for the presidency of the Football Federation (FFF), floods social networks and which could spread across France in football ... and sport in general.

Faced with the impossibility of receiving income due to the cessation of the championships since October, several club presidents could indeed request gestures of solidarity from their regional leagues or their federation.

The fees paid to the authorities correspond to the annual costs of the commitments in the championship and the licenses… Championship gold there is none.

The situation is however different in Ile-de-France where, for the moment, the sling does not seem present.

Already because the clubs, unlike their Alsatian counterparts, have already paid all of their costs and contributions to the League of Paris for this season.

"We imagine that the clubs are asking questions but I have not heard of such requests in the department," says Jean-Pierre Meurillon, president of the Yvelines district.

What matters above all is whether we can resume an activity and championships.

This is a subject, the clubs are all worried because they fear the flight of licensees and a blank season unlike last year.

We want to play and be fixed as soon as possible.

"

During an assembly in distance with the 90 district presidents organized on Monday evening, the question of aid from the regional leagues or the desire not to pay the commitments has not yet been "put on the table" confides a participant.

Prevent a mass desertion of the dismissed

The Ile-de-France clubs especially hope to prevent a mass desertion of their licensees in the off-season.

“We organize ourselves as best we can to schedule a maximum of training, says Thomas Lacoste, manager of the football school at the Arpajon club (Essonne).

Each club does what it can, I have even heard that some offer workouts in the morning before the children go to school.

With us all our teams train on Wednesdays and weekends.

The little ones twice a week.

We try to compensate for the absence of competitions.

"

“It is especially a question to ask for next season, estimates Eric Van Overtveld, president of the club of Sénart-Moissy (Seine-et-Marne).

We have fixed charges and fees every year, with the cost of equipment, the purchase of balloons, etc., and we will not be able to lower our licenses.

For this season, it is too late but if we want the licensees to stay or come back to the clubs, the league and the districts would have to make a gesture on the contribution that we must pay them.

Let them decrease it.

If this is not the case, I am afraid that many clubs are in difficulty or have to cut corners on the equipment that is provided to licensees.

The goal of an association is not to earn money, but it is not to lose money either.

For another Ile-de-France leader, the clubs will be able to get by next season because of new helpers.

PSG has thus promised to donate 1 euro to clubs for each license and the arrival of new sponsors to the Ile-de-France League should allow an automatic reduction in the cost of licenses.
