Once again the exclusive broadcaster of Ligue 1, Canal + has already made a major change in the organization of matches.

Canal +, buyer of all the TV rights of Ligue 1, has chosen to bring its poster initially scheduled for Saturday evening at 9 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, until the end of the season, announced Wednesday the League (LFP).

“At the request of the Canal + Group, the Board of Directors of the LFP has decided to organize the programming of Ligue 1 days from the 26th day (from February 19 to 21, Ed) and until the end of the season ", explained the LFP in a press release, saying it wanted to have" the widest possible exposure ".

The return of football on Canal +, and in particular the large poster on Sunday evening, has prompted the broadcaster to review its programming and modify this box, devoted to rugby at the start of the season.

The channel indicated on Saturday that the best poster of the Top 14 would now occupy the Saturday night box, which led to the modification of the schedule of the corresponding match in Ligue 1. After long weeks of tussle following the withdrawal of the failed broadcaster Mediapro, the encrypted channel last week sealed an unexpected deal with French football to broadcast the entirety of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 until the end of the season, relieving the industry in the short term without however erasing the drastic losses of clubs after an unprecedented audiovisual crisis.

To broadcast all the matches of each day of L1, the Vivendi subsidiary negotiated an extension of 35 million euros, in addition to what it had already paid to the League (330 million euros for the season ), according to several sources familiar with the case.

The 26th day of Ligue 1, scheduled from February 19 to 21, will include Nantes-Marseille, Montpellier-Rennes, Lorient-Lille, Brest-Lyon as posters and the highlight of the Paris SG-Monaco shock.

The schedules of the various matches have not yet been communicated by the LFP.
