Will make an aliyah?

Amara Studmeier has already started his second career in the United States, but that does not stop him from striving for a return to the pitches in Israel.

The 38-year-old former player who serves as assistant coach at the Brooklyn Nets this season, spoke last night (Tuesday) in a zoom conversation with "Yeshiva University" students about his dream of wearing the blue-and-white uniform of the Israeli team at EuroBasket 2022.

"My goal is to reach Israel for the Olympics." Studmeier stated that last season in the Maccabi Tel Aviv uniform he still looked in very good shape, despite his age.

"I'm not sure how much it's possible, but I still have some good years physically. If they want me, we should start talking about it from now on, because I'll have to get in shape and get ready for it. If they hire me, 100 percent I'll stabilize. This".

This is not the first time that Studmeier has expressed a desire to play for the Israeli national team, something that has not been possible in the past due to regulatory restrictions.

Studmeier is not allowed to play for the Israeli national team because he has previously played for the United States national team, but the basketball association can request an exceptional request that may be approved.

In any case, these are not the only Studmeier programs in Israel.

In an interview, Studmeier said that he intends to bring young players from the academies he runs to Israel for such tournaments and others, so that they will face Israeli players from the national and national leagues.

"When the corona is over, I will bring in players from my academies so that they can face players against the second and third leagues in Israel. I believe it will contribute a lot to them, and raise the level of the Israeli basketball player," he said.

Studmeier claims that he plans to establish his home in Israel in the future.

"I am an Israeli citizen, and I intend to make aliyah after I understand exactly what my next career looks like, after I remarry. There is no doubt that I would be happy to live in Israel, 100 percent."

Studmeier even told once again about the chain of events in the summer.

"I was going to stay at Maccabi Tel Aviv. I was already waiting for it, and I believed I would enjoy Israel. But then I thought working in Brooklyn would be a good opportunity to go back to prophesying in some way, so I picked up Steve Nash and asked him what he thought of that possibility, and he immediately said 'yes'. Started".
