Manchester City set a record by winning 15 in a row in all competitions with a 3-1 away victory over Swansea City in the fifth round of the FA Cup today.
With this victory, City broke the record in consecutive victories for a rival team in the top flight, beating Preston in 1892 and Arsenal in 1987, and both of them won 14 consecutive matches.
City, who made seven changes to the squad that won 4-1 at Premier League champions Liverpool last Sunday, opened the scoring in the 30th minute with a low shot from Kyle Walker that settled at the far post.
Pep Guardiola's side doubled the score two minutes into the second half when Raheem Sterling sent a shot from the left side into the net.
Brazilian Gabriel Jesus made it 3-0 after a superb ball control and then a direct shot into the net after a header pass by Bernardo Silva.
Morgan Whitaker reduced the lead for the Welsh team in the 77th minute, but the only negative for City in the match was injury to midfielder Rodri.
The last game in which City did not win was against West Bromwich Albion at the Etihad Stadium on December 15.
