Türkgücü Munich is looking for a successor to the dismissed Alexander Schmidt.

Andreas Pummer can only look after the newcomer temporarily.

  • After separating from Alexander Schmidt, Türkgücü Munich is looking for a new coach.

  • Andreas Pummer lacks the A license required in the 3rd division and can therefore only step in as an interim solution.

  • As a coach, the 38-year-old Türkgücü led from the state to the regional league and then assisted his two successors Reiner Maurer and Alexander Schmidt.

Munich - There is no time to take a deep breath at Türkgücü Munich.

After the last five games without a win, coach Alexander Schmidt was dismissed on Tuesday.

That was the result of an "internal analysis", as the association announced.

Managing director Max Kothny stated the “negative sporting development” as the main reason for the expulsion.

Schmidt took over Türkgücü from Reiner Maurer for the current season, but could not meet the high expectations of those responsible.

Türkgücü Munich: Alexander Schmidt's dismissal was actually planned for Wednesday

Internally, the Munich team are trying hard to fulfill the licensing documents for the 2nd Bundesliga, but their hopes for promotion have been dampened considerably in recent weeks.

They are five points behind the third-placed Rostockers, two more games.

Schmidt managed to stabilize the defensive, but this was completely at the expense of the actually strong series of strikes around Petar Sliskovic and Sercan Sararer.

Türkgücü has only scored one goal in the last five games.

A trend that also displeased President and investor Hasan Kivran, who describes himself as a doer and not an administrator.

According to information from our newspaper, the dismissal should not be officially announced until Wednesday, after Schmidt said goodbye to the team.

However, the players learned of the exemption on Tuesday from discussions with Schmidt.

With Andreas Pummer, the team is now taken over by someone who knows Türkgücü very well.

"It is of course a change to temporarily act as head coach again," said the previous co-trainer of our newspaper, "But I have known the club and the training processes for a long time and will of course also take on this task."

Türkgücü Munich: Andreas Pummer on board since the march from the regional league to the third division

Pummer has taken every step at Türkgücü since 2017, every step from the regional league to the Olympic Stadium.

Pummer had actually already found his luck at FC Unterföhring.

There he was a coach for years, and even surprisingly led the club into the regional league in the 2016/2017 season.

Nevertheless, he switched to Türkgücü in the summer of 2017, two leagues down again.

“In Unterföhring I had everything,” says Pummer.

“A lot of people didn't understand why I was leaving the club.

Friends asked me if I was crazy. "

But the 38-year-old didn't want to feel too comfortable, he says, otherwise you may become careless.

The decisive factor for the decision in favor of Türkgücü was also Kivran's persuasiveness: “He and Kadir Alkan (then team manager, editor's note) inspired me in the talks for Türkgücü.

Kivran has always stood behind me and encouraged me. "

Türkgücü Munich: Andreas Pummer impressed by Hasan Kirvan's meticulousness

Pummer lives by the creed that you have to constantly invest more than others, otherwise you won't get any further in life.

The family man knew what to expect from the new project.

Anything other than promotion to the Bayern League would not have been acceptable.

“Of course it wasn't always easy.

Everyone expected us to march through to professional football, but first you have to pass the national league in Töging or Freilassing.

You play on a district sports facility, the lawn was only mowed once a week. ”Pummer led Türkgücü Munich with 24 wins in the Bayern league, then with 21 wins in the regional league.

Every time with a new squad.

About the cooperation with patron Kivran, the football teacher says: “Kivran is not an administrator, but a doer.

It's impressive how meticulously he works.

Of course there is pressure, it spurs you on to top performance. "

There have been 82 new arrivals and 71 departures since Pummer joined the club: “It's brutally tough to tell players that they have to leave.

And that although you are currently successful.

But I can say: I was always honest with every single player. "

Türkgücü Munich: Andreas Pummer only interim trainer due to lack of A license

One of those who can confirm this is Efkan Bekiroglu.

The ex-lion, currently under contract with the Turkish first division club Alanyaspor, played as a coach in Unterföhring under Pummer.

“What distinguishes him is that he always tells you the truth in your face, no matter what it is about.

But he knows exactly what tone to use to tell you, sometimes rougher, sometimes as a buddy, ”said the 25-year-old in an interview with our newspaper.

Bekiroglu particularly remembered one game from their time together.

It was 2014 at FC Pipinsried.

Pummer initially let “Effe” sit on the bench so that he could roll up the field from behind.

As a substitute in the 62nd minute, Bekiroglu contributed three more goals to the 4-1 victory.

But the Dachau native says with a laugh: "If he had let me play from the start, I would probably have done five things."

At Türkgücü, Pummer changed to the role of co-trainer in 2019, first from Reiner Maurer, then from Alexander Schmidt.

Born in Hachingen, he still lacks the A license for the professional sector, he has been waiting for a year to finally start.

That's why Pummer will only be on the sidelines as an interim coach for the game against 1. FC Magdeburg next Monday.
