The bitter rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona includes quite a few mutual accusations that they enjoy - due to being large teams - some help from the league referees when needed.
Bites on the subject are nothing new, but the Spanish Football Association decided today that veteran Barcelona stopper Gerard Pique has crossed the border in an interview with local media and is considering prosecuting him.
The Spanish association are angry at Pique for blaming during an interview, officially, the La Liga referees, who are clearly leaning in favor of the big rival.
Pique actually claimed the referees were "Real Madrid fans", according to the Spanish association, and a spokesman for the association said that Barcelona had been given an official announcement that an investigation would be conducted into the brake.
In an interview with YouTube anchor Mario Alfonso, Pique even claimed that Real's win of the championship last season was a gift from the league referees, who helped her win the title.
"They made decisions for Real in the most grotesque way I have ever seen in my life," Pique said.
To justify his remarks, Pique used the words of former referee Eduardo Gonzalez, who claimed a year ago that 90% of referees and Real Madrid and the remaining ten percent are Barça fans.
"After these things," Pique said, "it is clear that the referees will prefer to whistle in favor of Real."
