The lockdown was extended again on Tuesday.
Amateur sports in Germany are currently out of the question.
A comment by Daniel Müksch from Münchner Merkur.
The amateur athletes in Germany still have to wait.
The clubs complain about a decline in membership and children who no longer take up the sport.
A comment from sports editor Daniel Müksch from Münchner Merkur.
Munich - It's like in the movie "Groundhog Day", in which Bill Murray experiences the same day over and over again.
Every time the next (virtual) round of prime ministers on the lockdown measures approaches, state politicians, sports officials or club representatives demand easing.
Your demands are heard, considered important - and not followed.
So also on Tuesday.
Whereby experience after more than a year of global pandemic teaches: Better this way than a constant back and forth of lockdown and easing.
Lockdown until the beginning of March: The pandemic has already swallowed a vintage
But it is also clear: This tough lockdown extension for amateur sports must be the last.
After March 14, there must be easing - especially for children and youth sports.
Associations are already complaining about a decline in membership.
Even more serious than the number of children leaving is the number of children who do not even start playing.
The pandemic has already swallowed at least one year that we have completely lost to Playstation or smartphone.
It is not about producing a new Thomas Müller or Dirk Nowitzki, but rather about learning elementary movement patterns.
Long before Covid-19, numerous physical education teachers reported that after elementary school, students had difficulty standing on one leg or catching a ball.
In addition, there is the lack of social corrective that sport - especially in a team - offers adolescents.
Of course, those affected do not approach the matter with such theoretical educational models.
You just lose fun and joy.
Children must be returned to the "normal" world of sports from March 14th
Continuing the lockdown remains the right decision.
Unfortunately.
But from March 14th it will be the turn of the little ones.
You have to be the first to gradually return to the "normal" world of sports.
Usually the weather should play into this goal.
Many outdoor sports are then possible again and the hall will no longer necessarily be necessary as a venue.
Wouldn't that also be a nice sign: after the generational alliance for the elderly, there follows the alliance for the other end of society.
And you could get used to such a “marmot day”.
