Romed Baumann was already in top form in the previous weeks - which he has now impressively confirmed at the World Ski Championships: only one Austrian was faster in the Super-G.

Romed Baumann made it onto the podium in the Super-G at the World Championships in Cortina d'Ampezzo and gave the German ski team a historic medal.

The veteran was only 0.07 seconds slower than Vincent Kriechmayr from Austria and was on the silver rank after 33 starters.

He confirmed his good form from the previous weeks.

The 35-year-old, who moved from Austria to DSV almost two years ago and has never been on the podium since then, achieved the best German World Cup result ever in a Super-G and the first medal in a speed event since Florian Eckert Bronze 2001.

Alexis Pinturault from France came in third.

Andreas Sander was eighth in the meantime.
