In the Hyrox world rankings, the 29-year-old is even in third place, although the trend sport is just a hobby for Oberländer.

How do you do it?

Munich - It was the next exclamation mark from Viola Oberländer.

In mid-December 2020, the 29-year-old took part in the “Hyrox World Championships of Fitness” in Hamburg.

Oberländer thought for a long time whether she should come at all.

In March she fell ill with Covid and had to struggle with the after-effects for a long time.

There were also knee problems, two shoulder injuries and the difficult preparation due to the closed fitness studios.

“But then I thought to myself: canceling a World Cup is also stupid.” Oberländer was convincing, was in the lead for a long time and in the end fought his way to second place.

Oberländer is the club manager at the Löwen and responsible for the

50 different sports in the eV.

The trained sports scientist takes care of the external image of the eV, sponsoring and the inclusion of new sports.

“I try to promote every sport, one of the main goals is to get our boxers into the Bundesliga.

60 also has to offer apart from football. "

Hyrox - Oberländer's passion - is a competition-oriented sport in which the same parkour must always be mastered.

A specific workout is completed after each kilometer run, a total of eight times.

In the case of the "Sled Pull", for example, a sled weighing between 75 and 125 kilos (varies according to gender and performance level) has to be pulled; 3.0 m for men, 2.7 m for women).

Oberländer lives for sport.

The day begins at 6 a.m. with a two-hour session, four times a week there are runs between 14 and 22 kilometers.

In the mornings, the athlete likes to jump into the Eisbach, even in winter: “It quickly became a pleasant addiction.” Oberländer uses Zwift three to four times a week, meaning she virtually rides a racing bike.

After work, sports are continued, and a strength or cardio circuit is completed every day.

Oberländer became aware of Hyrox through

members of her training group.

In the Munich studio UN1T, a community that was crazy about sports and keen on the fitness trend quickly established itself.

For this, Oberländer also had to adapt her training, before she had never really trained with weights, and she also had to establish proper running training.

After half a year of preparation, Oberländer took part in their first competition in Hamburg in 2019 together with training partner Florian Gast in the "Mixed Double".

The result?

A new world record.

The special feature: The duo even cracked the best time of the men's team with the same weights.

"It was an incredible feeling, even if the record only lasted two weeks." The two still hold the record in the mixed double.

In their first individual competition - February 2020 in Karlsruhe - Oberländer immediately won and over time is still in third place in the world rankings.

The next Hyrox competition for Oberländer will probably take place in April in Dallas.

“I see Americans sending out training videos from gyms every week.

Your lead is getting bigger and bigger, "says Oberländer,

" Most of the people I compete against live from the sport.

For me it's a very intense hobby besides work. "
