Danny Abdia practices shooting after Washington's loss to Toronto (from the Wizards' Twitter)

Washington is failing to generate momentum.

The Wizards were defeated tonight (Wednesday-Thursday) 137: 115 by Toronto, in a game that opened a streak of five home games, revealing the team's familiar problems from the start of the season: weak defense, disappointing Russell Westbrook ability and lack of fighting spirit leading to more and more rival blitzes In the last quarter.

Scott Brooks continued with what worked for him on Tuesday in a win over Chicago: Davis Bartans opened with a five-pointer, while Danny Abdia came off the bench and was part of the Wizards' replacement lineup.

Abdia looked not bad in the new role tonight as well: he finished with 9 points (3 of 7 from the field including 2 of 6 from three, and 1 of 2 from penalties) and added 7 rebounds and 3 assists in 27 minutes on the floor.

Again the defense seemed extremely penetrating.

When Abdia entered the field for the first time towards the end of the first quarter, the Raptors were already in double-digit advantage.

Russell Westbrook who returned after an absence from the previous game again seemed scattered and ineffective, and the penetrating defense allowed the visitors from Canada to do whatever they pleased.

Abdia may have shown defensive sparks when entrusted to Toronto star Pascal Siakam, but showed instability on this side of the pitch as well as the rest of his teammates, with his most beautiful action in the first half being an assist with a nice touch to Westbrook's dunk in a burst.

The Raptors' advantage was maintained at double digits in most stages of the game, even in the second half.

From time to time the Wizards managed to get a little closer, but did not actually threaten Toronto.

At the end of the third quarter, Abdia scored a first three after 12 consecutive fouls that narrowed the gap to just six, but Toronto answered with another mini-run and ran away again.

The Wizards still stayed a reasonable distance at the start of the final quarter, but as with quite a few games this season, seemed undisciplined and unfocused in the deciding minutes, and the Raptors finished the game with a 5:19 run (22:34 in the entire final quarter) to secure the win.

Norman Powell shone for the Raptors with 28 points, leading the scoring list of the winner who sniped 19 threes at 60 percent against the Wizards' undefeated.

Pascal Siakam added 26, with Kyle Laurie contributing 21 and Chris Bushay issuing 17, 16 rebounds including a resounding dunk on Abdia.

Far from its heyday.

Washington was led by Bradley Bill (24 and 5 assists) and Russell Westbrook (23 and 7 assists, while playing with a deceptive stat line), with Roy Hachimura adding 15 and 7 rebounds.

The Wizards, who remain in the penultimate place in the East, will try to get back on track in the next game against the Knicks on the night between Friday and Saturday.
