The mass brawl at the end of the Haifa derby was reminiscent of two riots that Israeli football preferred to forget.

Both were nearing the end of the 2011/12 season, and both went up to the participants in prolonged distances and to groups in reducing points - to the attention of the two Haifaites.

Will it affect the championship fight?

Let's recall the cases.

A victory goal by Danny Farda to the credit of the host Maccabi Petah Tikva in the bottom game in the senior league, ignited the fire at the Moshava Stadium.

Local goalkeeping coach Ami Ganish was the "star" of the event with a blow to Bali Khatib and was sent off for a year and a half, and Maccabi Petah Tikva's balance sheet was reduced by three points, which eventually cost them a relegation.

Gal Erel, one of the key figures in the Haifa derby, also took an active part in this turmoil.

The explanation for the penalty reduction sentence reads: "If the incident had ended in a brawl involving players the punishment would have been minor, but the very severe assault of two functionaries in it as described above is an unprecedented event requiring a particularly severe punishment."

Officials in the Haifa derby are also involved, although not with such a serious injury.

The penalties for players in the court:

Danny Farda (Maccabi Petah Tikva) - three games

Ali Khatib (Hapoel Haifa) - three games

Stefan Dankovich (Hapoel Haifa) - three games

Gal Erel (Hapoel Haifa) - two games
