That was a strong performance: Nick Jäger improved the Bavarian indoor record over 2000 meters in a squad competition in Fürth.

In the finish he was clearly superior to the competition.

Penzberg / Fürth - Nick Jäger had expected a counterattack from the competition, but it just didn't come.

"I thought that someday someone would have to come from behind," said the TSV Penzberg athlete.

But nobody came.

And so he ran towards a superior victory over 2000 meters in the “Kaderwettkampf North” in the Fürth sports hall.

Much more important than the placement was the time - and it was astonishing: With 5: 20.08 minutes, the Penzberger improved the Bavarian indoor records in the age groups “U23” and “Men”.

After his rather mediocre 3000 meter race in Erfurt (we reported) - with a time of 8: 24.93 minutes (8th place) - Jäger was completely satisfied this time.

Because at the finish he wasn't quite at the limit.

"If someone else had come from behind, I could have added something," said the team athlete with satisfaction.

The other places went to Niklas Buchholz (LSC Höchstadt / 5: 21.14 minutes), Brian Weisheit (LSC Höchstadt / 5: 22.08) and Florian Bremm (5: 27.43 / TV Leutershausen).

The second and third place finishers also remained below the previous Bavarian 2000 meter record.

Nick Jäger runs the best indoor time in two age groups

Only team athletes were allowed to take part in the race in Fürth.

First Buchholz took the lead for 500 meters, then Bremm for 500 meters.

“Then Brian (wisdom / ed.) Took over the lead.

But after 200 meters I noticed that Brian couldn't keep up the pace, ”reported the 21-year-old hunter.

800 meters from the finish - that corresponds to four laps in the hall - he took the lead.

From now on, Nick Jäger kept the pace high.

He crossed the finish line several meters ahead of his training mates.

In the women's 2000 meter race, there were also two indoor best performances.

Responsible for this was 15-year-old Anna Barth (LG Bamberg), who took the win with 6: 36.85 minutes.

Barth won in a sprint out of a group of three.

With her time she is now the Bavarian record holder in the classes “W15” and “U18”.

Obstacle runner Lisa Schuster (LAC Quelle Fürth), who had led the race for a long time, finished second with 6: 38.17 minutes.

Sprinter Jonas Hügen (LAC Quelle Fürth) also ensured a top performance: The Fürth driver won the 200 meters in 21.68 seconds and is now fifth in the current indoor best list of the German Athletics Association.

Owen Ansah (Hamburger / SV) took first place with 21.05 seconds.

This time he ran on January 16 in Frankfurt / Main.
