After the lockdown was extended, the mandatory break for footballers in the region continues.

The district leader also exercises self-criticism.

County - Politicians' decision this week to extend the lockdown into March now has an immediate impact on football in the region.

"Since the lockdown has been extended and it is still unclear how things can go on with the interrupted season, I have all the games of the district league 1 and 2, the district class 4, the A-classes 7 and 8, the B-class 8 and of the C-classes 7 and 8 completely withdrawn ”, informed district game director Heinz Eckl the clubs in a letter.

"I can't tell you at the moment how things will go on with the championship, the league cup, the toto cup and when you can go back to the training field," said Eckl, quite helpless in view of the decisions in which the sport was not mentioned.

Football: For the rest of the season in the Zugspitze district, only a small margin

Only on March 3rd, when the Bavarian state government also wants to talk about amateur sport, the Altenstadt native expects more clarity as to whether and how it can go on.

Should a clearance then come, according to Eckl, the BFV board or the presidium will deal with it and lash down the other framework conditions - the start of the test matches and the league game, the league cup and the end of the season in the association leagues.

Regardless of what is decided: The game master for the Zugspitze district sees little room for maneuver when it comes to hosting the remaining games.

“In the circle we might have a week of air for the end of the season,” says Eckl, emphasizing the word “maybe”.

Rather, the Altenstadter has the start of the new game year - the official start is July 1st - in the back of his head.

"You shouldn't forget that we have a cross-county relegation in the district league, and the clubs need some time to regulate a few things for the new season," says Eckl.

As far as the length of a possible preparation time that the clubs are allowed after the end of the lockdown, the district manager is also fishing in the dark.

“We game leaders have no influence on this decision.

However, we have drawn attention to the fact that it must not be too short, ”says Eckl.

The usual six to seven weeks at most clubs "I personally cannot imagine," says Eckl.

Soccer: District game manager Heinz Eckl calls on clubs to be more flexible

He now has to start planning the rest of the games on the basis of the more than uncertain framework conditions.

"Please be prepared for the fact that we may not play the remaining games in the normal order, but that a game day has to be brought forward or postponed," Eckl asked the clubs.

Flexibility is required so that Eckl can accommodate a few joint home games for the first and second team in the remaining games.

“Ultimately, it shouldn't matter when you play against whom.

It would be important that we bring the championship to a complete end, and that still has priority over the league cup, ”said Eckl.

As far as the cancellation of this additional competition is concerned, nothing has changed.

Only the board of the BFV could cancel the league cup completely, "the district is not authorized to do so," explains Eckl.

Soccer: Heinz Eckl looks ahead, but he is not particularly optimistic

Finally, in his letter to the clubs in the Zugspitze district, he is also self-critical.

"In retrospect, it would have simply been smarter to play two more championship rounds in 2020, but as is so often the case in life, you are always smarter afterwards than before," admits Eckl.

"We are all in a situation that was unprecedented for us, we didn't know any of that." Eckl regards the corona virus as an "attack of the invisible".

Nonetheless, he looks ahead, but there is no question of excessive optimism in the Zugspitz game master.

“We definitely have to knit the rest of the program with a hot needle, and if we are not allowed to do that, the chances of a regular end to the season will diminish.

You have to be that honest. "
