Said Moulay in Israel (Judo Association)

"Only when I saw him with my own eyes did I digest that Said Moulay in Israel," Moshe Ponti, chairman of the Judo Association, described today (Monday) the moment of his exciting meeting last night with the Iranian judoka who landed on a historic visit to Israel on the Tel Aviv Grand Slam. Fifth.

"A month that I think and plan this moment that Said will come to Israel," Ponti continues.

"When he stepped in front of me, I thought how can I be content with a handshake at a moment like this. Is it worth accepting it only with a handshake? I said I must embrace him as Israel as a country embraces this brave guy. The nice guy who took a brave step and came to our country to do To compete in judo. "

Ponty was very excited.

See it about him when he spoke.

“It really was one of the most exciting days of my life and I don’t tend to get excited,” he said.

"Even in the car on the way to the hotel he thanked me again and again for the invitation and the reception. I said to him: 'Said, I thank you. You are the brave man who took this huge step towards bringing hearts together.' Do you know what is going on with Iranian exiles all over Europe? "They are closely following everything that comes out of here. As for Iran itself? I have no information about what is going on there with his visit."

The chairman returned to Ben Gurion Airport in the afternoon to welcome the president of the World Judo Association, Marius Wieser, who arrived in Israel on a private flight from his home in Budapest.

Wieser will also stay in the same hotel where the athletes will be and like everyone else will go into 24-hour isolation until the result of his third corona test arrives.

"I do not believe that anyone has undergone such a close corona testing procedure as those who come to the competition," Ponti says in response to criticisms heard today about the competition.

"72 hours before take-off they do the first check. Then 48 hours before take-off the second check. They do the third here at the hotel on arrival at the lobby and the fourth the day before the competition. And they are always allowed to walk around the hotel but not outside or anywhere. The training takes place in three halls in the hotel. They only go out to compete in the hall this weekend. Is there a strict procedure than that? I feel that most people support and think that we did a great deal together with the state to try to get back to routine. We are very careful and take care to do everything properly according to the protocol. "

Moulay came out of the insulation in his room today after receiving the negative test.

He will be added to the training of the Israeli national team tomorrow because no more athletes have come from Mongolia, which he represents.

Ponty is now fantasizing about a final between Sagi Muki and Moulay.

"It depends on them and if no one of the ranks falls for some reason before the competition, the positions should arrange a possibility for a final between them," he said, "I wish it would end that way."
