The Israeli basketball team left for Poland this morning (Monday) on a charter flight ahead of the games against the Romanian and Spanish teams in the EuroBasket 2022 qualifiers this weekend. The team has already qualified for the European Championship from first place at home, Gal Mekel.
The team's coach Oded Katash landed in Israel after a 24-hour trip, and took off with the players while his team has a Corona strike with eight sick players, "In this respect it turned out well, I should not lose games with Panathinaikos. We are concentrated in the team, we have an intense week and fun, I I miss everyone too. I'm proud to finish this window after we've already climbed, but want to finish in good taste. I'm after a journey of more than 24 hours through Frankfurt and rescue flights just to get here and out with the team. Reality is crazy and I hope everyone ends up getting vaccinated from this".
Katsch may end his career in the national team following his appointment to Panathinaikos, and his last games as national coach may be questionable: "It could very well be my last window, but it's okay too. I'm proud of the way, and if it's the last window I hope someone continues ".

On the team's goals and the possibility of making changes in the rotation, the coach said: "A team has formed here that really enjoys playing together on the field and being together, that's the key. I share it and I get excited and have fun. There will be no attempts, everyone who plays deserves it. "Young players, but the team is very young anyway. If it will be possible to let another player or two come in and feel and get the opportunity, we will do it."
Idan Zalmanson did not go with the team to Poland after his family member was found positive for Corona and it was decided not to take a risk.
