S. Ashdod signed this morning (Tuesday) its coach Ran Ben Shimon on a new contract for 3 and a half years.

Ben Shimon's salary will be upgraded, thus putting an end to the club's rumor mill about his future.

"I would like to begin by thanking Jackie Ben Zaken and Meir Almoznino for trusting and choosing the common path," Ben Shimon said this morning at the signing ceremony. "And the players were fertile ground for the success of the club and fit in with my professional vision. I am focused and look forward to the great challenges we face in the common path."

As is well known, in recent weeks there has been interest in Ben Shimon from a number of teams, including Hapoel Beer Sheva.

Ashdod owner Jackie Ben Zaken has made it clear that he will not release Ben Shimon, who also holds a contract for next season.

At the same time, Ben Zaken made a decision to leave Ben Shimon in the port city for a long time.

The two met yesterday when the owner's demand was to cancel the summer exit clause and extend the contract between the parties.

Once an old man upgraded the contract, he actually left Ben Shimon no choice.

At the same time both sides said they were happy with the move.

"Ben Shimon is good in Ashdod and Ashdom is good with Ben Shimon," the club said, "there is no point in dismantling something that works great. Jackie and Ren want to make Ashdod a permanent member of the top of the Israeli league."
