The SC Riessersee again in the DEL2?

Certainly a dream for many fans.

The white and blue followers can now dream a little: The SCR has deposited the guarantee for participation in the DEL2 licensing process.

The DEL2 season 2017/2018 should be fondly remembered by many fans of the SC Riessersee.

In the semi-final playoffs defeated the ESV Kaufbeuern, then lost the battle for the championship against the Bietigheim Steelers.

In itself a terrific season if it hadn't been for the financial relegation to the top division.

Since then, the SCR has competed in the third division.

Now the fans can at least dream a little about the DEL2 again.

Because the traditional club from Garmisch-Partenkirchen, as one of five clubs in the Oberliga Süd, has given the guarantee to participate in the DEL2 licensing process on time.

SCR only wants to use the funds that are actually available

However, those responsible around managing director Pana Christakakis are not planning to move up to the second highest class in Germany.

Two essential points are decisive for this: the athletic qualification and the economic viability of a DEL2 season.

The second point in particular is a very crucial and insecure component.

Due to the corona pandemic, economic survival was declared a seasonal goal this year.

After all, there is state aid, because without it there would be no ice hockey at all in the Olympic ice sports center.

But how does it look next season?

Will the state continue to support the clubs financially?

Can viewers cheer for their favorite club live on site again?

"In view of all these open questions, it is all the more important to consistently continue our philosophy," emphasizes Christakakis.

And this route is: Only the available financial resources are used.

This is how the SCR has done it this season, and it does not want to deviate from this in the coming season.

Nevertheless, the association decided to deposit the guarantee for the DEL2.

“It would be unfair to any of our boys to take away this chance before the playoffs.

Every athlete always wants to win and plays for maximum success, ”explains Christakakis.

Christian Schwinghammer, co-owner of SCR's main sponsor tproneth, provided the guarantee.

Should the worst come true and the white-blue athletes qualify for promotion, Christakakis and Co. want to sound out the financial feasibility and decide accordingly.
