The 2021 Australian Open is nearing completion and this morning one of the prominent candidates for the win, Daniel Medvedev, made it clear that it is worth betting on.
The ranked 4 met in the quarterfinals the 7th ranked, Andrei Rublev, who failed to tickle his opponent.
Medvedev dominated the game from the first moment, and after a 5: 7 victory in a relatively balanced first set, flew to a smooth victory in three sets.
3: 6, 2: 6, Medvedev won the other two sets, and as they progressed the gaze from Rublev's direction indicated a growing despair.
For him it was a nightmare that lasted a little over two hours
This was Medvedev's 19th consecutive victory, and he is waiting for the winner in the last quarter-final between Rafael Nadal and Stefanos Tsitsipas.
In the women’s, ranked 1 Ashley Barty parted ways with the tournament after meeting Carolina Mohova (25).
The Australian started great with 1: 6, but the locals will not win their own champion for the first time in over 40 years, because further down the road it just collapsed.
Mochova, despite the weak first set, took control of the game, showed great confidence - after taking a medical timeout on the grounds of headaches - and won 3: 6, 2: 6 the next two sets.
Mochova will meet in the semifinals Jennifer Brady (22), who defeated Jessica Pegola (61) in the American derby 6: 4, 2: 6, 1: 6.
