Henrik Kristoffersen has become an indispensable part of the leaderboard as a ski racer.

He is particularly victorious in slalom and giant slalom.

  • In

    slalom

    and

    giant slalom

    ,

    Henrik Kristoffersen is

one of the best winter athletes in the world.

  • Two Olympic medals underline his sporting success.

  • As a Norwegian champion and

    world champion

    , the

    ski racer started

as one of the favorites at the

    2019/2020 World Cup

     .

Henrik Kristoffersen was born

on

July 2, 1994

in Lørenskog, Norway, but grew up in

Løvenstad

.

The Norwegian

skier became

a member of the Rælingen Skiklubb

at the age of six

.

The athlete has specialized in

slalom

and

giant slalom

and can count himself among the world's best in both disciplines.

In March 2012 Kristoffersen went the first time at the

World Cup

at the start and took the

slalom

from

Kranjska Gora

part.

He did not manage to qualify for the second round, but still ended the season with a success - the title of

Norwegian

Slalom

Champion

.

From then on, the

World Cup

kept going up.

In November 2012 the ski racer got

his first World Cup points

with an eleventh place in the

slalom

and almost exactly a year later he was already on the podium.

He could only top it off with a

win

, which followed on January 28, 2014 at the

slalom

in

Schladming

.

The ski racer, his first Olympic medal and further successes

In the same year Henrik Kristoffersen made his way to Sochi for the

Olympics

.

In

slalom

, he brought the

bronze medal

to Norway, making him the

youngest ever winner of

an alpine medal at the Winter Olympics.

In 2015, the

world championship

in Beaver Creek was on, where he just missed the medal ranks in slalom with fourth place.

At the

Junior World Championship

in March 2015, however, the

ski racer was

more successful.

It was his last participation in the Junior World Championships and he finished with a

gold medal

each

in

slalom

and

giant slalom

.

These and the following medals made Kristoffersen the

most successful ski racer

at the Alpine Junior Ski World Championships:

  • 2012: Gold in giant slalom, silver in slalom and the combination

  • 2013: gold in combination

  • 2014: Gold in slalom and giant slalom

The 2015/2016 season held one victory after the other in store for the athlete.

He won six out of seven

giant slaloms

and thus

secured

victory in

the

Slalom World Cup

.

Henrik Kristoffersen: From Olympics to World Champion and World Cup third

Henrik Kristoffersen also

competed

again at the

2018 Olympic Games

.

In the

giant slalom

, he secured the

silver medal

.

In the

slalom,

however, he was eliminated in the second run.

In 2019 it was time for another participation in the

World Cup

.

In Åre the athlete fought his way to first place in the giant slalom and thus became

world champion

.

In the following

2019/2020 World Cup season

, it was firmly expected that Kristoffersen and

Alexis Pinturault

would fight for the overall victory.

In fact, the

ski racer was

able to keep up for a long time and even took the

lead

.

But his performance fell in February and Kristoffersen had to hand over his interim top position to his compatriot

Aleksander Aamodt Kilde

.

Due to the pandemic, the

season had

to be

terminated

prematurely

.

So he ended up in third place in the overall standings.

However, the Norwegian ski racer was able to win two discipline ratings.

He

secured

first place in

both

slalom

and

giant slalom

.
