was born on May 16, 1993 in Stryn, Norway.
He is the brother of the also internationally active winter sportsman Tarjei Thingnes Bö.

When he was sixteen, his parents persuaded him
to try
his hand at
biathlon
.
Johannes Thingnes Bö agreed and was able to record his first successes shortly after his debut on skis.

summer biathlon

juniors

Just a year later, the new biathlete started with the seniors, and very successfully.

Participation in the 2014 Winter Olympics, however, was a disappointment for Johannes Thingnes Bö, because he could not win a medal.
Things went better the following year: The young Norwegian became
world champion
