UEFA announced the cancellation of the UEFA Youth Champions League this season due to the Corona pandemic crisis.
“The UEFA Executive Committee decided to cancel the 2020/2021 UEFA Youth Champions League version due to the Corona pandemic and its effects on organizing competitions,” UEFA said in a statement on its official website.
The UEFA Executive Committee affirmed that there is no possibility to postpone the start of the European Youth League competition and that the health and safety of young players should be given top priority, noting that it consulted with the European Club Competitions Committee and the European Club Association, who supported the idea of canceling it this season exceptionally.
Real Madrid won the UEFA Youth Champions League last season after beating Benfica, Portugal, 3-2, in the final match in Switzerland.
