Every good thing has an end.
The miraculous journey of former Israeli Aslan Karatzev at the Australian Championships came to an end today (Thursday).
The tennis player, who at the age of 13 left the country and moved to Russia to fulfill a dream, lost to Novak Djokovic and ended his career in Melbourne.
The mighty Serb advanced to the final.
Djokovic, ranked No. 1 in the world for those who forgot, opened the game with an easy 3: 6 victory in the first set, and continued on the same line in the second, with 4: 6.
Unlike Rafael Nadal, who lost a two-set advantage in the quarter-finals against Stefanos Tsitsipas and was eliminated, the Serb did not let it get out of hand and won 2: 6 en route to the prestigious final in Melbourne.
On the way to the 18th Grand Slam of his career, Djokovic will have to beat the winner in the match between Daniel Medvedev (4) and Tsitsipas (5).
