The Lakers and Nets met tonight (Thursday through Friday) for a duel marked as a prelude to a potential final, ending in Brooklyn's 98-109 victory.
Both teams lacked injured key players: the Hunts appeared without Kevin Durant, while the Lakers once again played without Anthony Davis.
After the game, we informed the Lakers that Davis, who is scheduled to return in about two weeks, will be out for a longer period of time and will miss at least the next four weeks.
In addition, the Lakers missed first quarterback Dennis Schroeder.
In the absence of the two, LeBron James had to do even more than usual.
He finished with 32 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists, but admitted that Schroeder and especially Davis are missing him.
"Playing without AD and without his first quarterback is a big blow," he said at the end.
"On the other hand, they also lacked key players. No team was at its peak of strength, but we were not good enough today, and their victory was justified."
Kevin Cook added that "obviously it's hard to play without an MVP-level player like AD, and without Dennis who is our engine. He dictates the pace, even on defense. Now we have to find a way to cover it up."

LeBron James reached 35,000 points, the Lakers were defeated against Brooklyn

LeBron may have officially joined the exclusive club of players who crossed the 35,000-point threshold in his career tonight, to which only Karim Abdul Jabbar and Carl Malone belonged until tonight, but both he and his teammates struggled a bit against the Nets' small-ball lineup that continues to prove itself.
The Nets have adopted a new style in recent games, with five short players on the field including forward Jeff Green who mostly functions on a chin standard.
In the low lineup, the Nets also use defensive tactics of automatic substitutions that at least for now helps them stabilize the defense.
But this is not impressive for LeBron.
"They replace everything, pretty much. It's something I've faced before. To be honest, it was not particularly challenging for me," James said, but admitted: "It's their defense, and it's what they're trying to get you to do - they "They try to force you to use a lot of isolation, not to move the ball, to restrict movement without a ball. In that respect, I think they did a good job, but it's probably not something I've not encountered before."
The sarcastic messages also came during the game.
After a technical foul was whistled for Brooklyn's duty, the Lakers sent LeBron James to the penalty line, who missed.
In response, Kyrie Irving was seen slapping the Lakers players: "Is this the best penalty sling you have to offer?".
Even at the end, Irving conveyed a message.
"We'll meet with them sooner or later," Kyrie said when asked about the possibility of a series between the Lakers and the Nets in the playoff finals, "we can only hope that when that happens, it will be in full force."
