Will the public be back in the stadiums soon?

On France Info this Friday morning, the Deputy Minister in charge of Sports, Roxana Maracineanu, spoke of the setting up of experiments so that the public can again attend sporting events.

The former swimmer revealed that she was going to Lyon to meet, this Saturday, the presidents of several clubs in the city - Jean-Michel Aulas for football, Tony Parker for basketball and Olivier Ginon for rugby - in order to discuss with them the possible experiments so that the public can attend matches again.

Paris, Marseille… How will the first test concerts with the public unfold?

Following the example of what culture does for the reopening of museums or the resumption of concerts, these tests will be done "in agreement with the Ministry of Health" but also with "the local ARS (Regional Health Agency) and the prefect ”.

"We will, on very specific protocols, study the possibility, in some cities, in some clubs, to resume," assured the Minister.

She underlined that this return was possible thanks to "new data" and in particular "the possibility of making vaccines, tests" but also of relying on "QR codes to identify people who have been in contact" and then isolate if necessary.

No sports hall reopening date yet

The minister assures him: "We will be able to attend matches outdoors or indoors, in closed enclosures, from these experiments".

No date has, however, been brought forward, even if Roxana Maracineanu seems optimistic for the Roland-Garros tournament, which is to be held in May.

🗣 A spectator gauge for sporting events?

The Olympic medalist also addressed the issue of sport for the French.

In this context, she assured that masks offering "better breathability" than current masks could accelerate the reopening of sports halls.

Even if the minister very quickly recalled that it was not this mask which would decide on these reopenings, but "the figures" of the epidemic.

Once again showing optimism, the minister said she hoped that the measures could be relaxed in the sports sector as soon as the school holidays returned.

"On the health of the French, on the morale of the French, stop sport and not resume it quickly, there, it will be worrying", she justified.
