TSV 1860, SpVgg Unterhaching, FC Ingolstadt or Türkgücü Munich?

Only one club can qualify for the DFB Cup this year through the Toto Cup.

Munich

- The Bavarian Football Association (BFV) will draw the qualifying games of the Bavarian third division teams for participation in the Toto Cup quarter-finals on Monday, February 22, 2021.

Last season the winner was TSV 1860, and this year, too, the blues are hot for the cup.

What is new in this football year, which is constantly changing due to Corona: The three third-party players play a participant among themselves, who then meets an amateur club in the quarter-finals.

First of all, two pairings will be drawn, which will finally be played on March 23 and 24.

The winners of these matches will then play the qualifying game for participation in the Toto Cup quarter-finals on Saturday, March 27, 2021.

The teams drawn first have home rights.

The BFV will show the drawing on February 22, 2021 from 8 p.m. on its Facebook page.

Toto Cup: Only one third group made it to the quarter-finals

So the third division will have a quarter-finalist in the Toto Cup this year.

Association game manager Josef Janker explains why this is so: “As already stated at the start of the Toto Cup competition with the first main round last autumn, appropriate solutions are needed under the continuing difficult circumstances.

We have made a conscious decision that the third division teams will settle their quarter-finalists among themselves, because the clubs then remain among themselves, so to speak, with regard to their prescribed regular tests for Corona.

We hope that from the quarter-finals in mid-April, the general conditions will change again. "

Who has the best chance of taking part in the Toto Cup?

In addition to prestige, the Toto Cup also attracts substantial income from the DFB Cup.

The winner qualifies for the first main round and receives the guaranteed bonus of around 130,000 euros from the marketing proceeds.

In times of pandemic, a thankful income for a team from the 3rd division.

Accordingly, the four Upper Bavarian teams will tackle the competition.

While the defending champions TSV 1860, Türkgücü Munich and FC Ingolstadt 04 have good chances with a view to the season so far, Unterhaching will certainly focus on the fight for relegation.

The suburbs have been without a win for ten games and are currently ranked 18 in the league.
