The enthusiasm for the sport flows through the veins of the ski jumper Manuel Faißt.
Among other things, he is a three-time German team sprint champion.
Manuel Faißt
was born on January 11, 1993 in
Furtwangen
.
The German
ski jumper
is active in
Nordic combined
and came into contact with winter sports as a child.
His father was also a Nordic combined athlete and trained
SV Baiersbronn
.
So it was hardly surprising that Faißt drove down the ten-meter hill in Bergergrund for the first time at the age of four.
He dared the first jump when he was five.
The young athlete's ambition was quickly aroused and the first successes were not long in coming.
Manuel Faißt attended the Richard von Weizsäcker grammar school in
Baiersbronn
and switched to the
ski boarding school in
Furtwangen
after secondary school
.
There he intensively pursued his path to becoming a professional athlete.
This led him to Breisgau, where the ski jumper graduated from high school in 2011 and
joined the German armed forces
as a
sports soldier
the following year
.
Manuel Faißt made his debut at the World Cup and the Junior World Championships
On December 5, 2009,
Manuel Faißt
started a
World Cup
for the first time
.
He landed on 49th place.
His first World Cup points followed in November 2011 thanks to the 30th place he achieved there.
The
ski jumper
achieved the best results of the season
with placings in seventh and 18th place in December 2011.
Two placements in the medal ranks in the Junior World Championships in 2012 marked the ski jumper's greatest success to date.
In February he won the silver medal and bronze in the team in ten-kilometer cross-country skiing.
He succeeded in the latter together with Christian Arlt, Michael Schuller and Tobias Simon.
These and other successes in the season brought him 35th place in the overall World Cup ranking.
The ski jumper became junior world champion and German champion for the first time
In the following year, the athlete managed to top these results.
In
Liberec he
won the title of
Junior World Champion
.
In both individual competitions and in the team with Jakob Lange, David Welde and again Michael Schuller, the
ski jumper
landed
first.
His streak of success in the
World Cup continued
.
Faiasst took the place of the sick Tino Edelmann in the team and won the relay competition in
Sochi
.
In summary, he achieved the
following results
in the
Junior World Championships
:
2012: Silver in the Gundersen
2012: bronze in the team
2013: Gold in the Gundersen, team and sprint
At the
German Championships in
2013,
Manuel Faißt was
no less successful.
He
proved
his sporting talent
again by
winning a
bronze medal
in the
individual
and also impressed in the
team sprint
.
Together with Fabian Rießle, he decided this for himself and became
German champion
for the first time
.
Back in the national team, Manuel Faißt celebrated new successes
After
Manuel Faißt started
in the second-rate Continental Cup, he returned to the
national team
at the end of February 2014
and was part of the
World Cup team
throughout the coming season
.
However, the
German team sprint champion
only won one World Cup point.
In October 2016, the winning
ski jumper
his second German
championship
in
Sprint
.
He also competed with Fabian Rießle.
In the Gundersen competition, however, he ended up in third place.
The 2017/2018 World Cup season started Faißt with
form problems
and was therefore unable to qualify for the 2018 Winter Olympics.
Nevertheless, he was not unsuccessful and won his third
championship title in
2018
, again in the
team sprint
with Fabian Rießle.
In the
2018/2019 World
Cup, Manuel Faißt returned to his best performances and celebrated successes especially in the jumping runs.
Tenth place in the
overall World Cup ranking
is his best
overall ranking
to date
.
