Stefan Luitz was born

on

March 26, 1992

.

The

ski racer

grew up in Bolsterlang and consequently made

his first steps towards an athlete career

at

SC Bolsterlang

.

The

slalom

, especially the

giant slalom

, emerged as his favorite discipline.

Even as a child, Luitz secured the top ranks, including at the club championships and the

German championships

.

At the age of 15 he was finally accepted by the

DSV

.

Also in 2007 the young athlete competed in

FIS races

for the first time

.

Shortly after his first appearance at the

European Cup

in January 2009, he celebrated a major international success for the first time.

At the European Youth Olympic Festival in Szczyrk, he came second in the

giant slalom

.

Another

silver medal

followed at the

2010

Junior World

Championships in Les Houches.

Thanks to his good performance in preparation for the 2010/2011 season, the

ski racer was

able to qualify

for participation in the

World

Cup.

His first race was on January 8, 2011, but Stefan Luitz was eliminated in the first run.

The season ended for him without a World Cup result, but he nonetheless received a subsequent nomination for the

2011

World Championship

. He traveled to Garmisch-Partenkirchen as a substitute driver for the team competition and also competed in the

giant slalom

.

The ski racer reached 29th place.

Stefan Luitz made it to his first podium in the European Cup in the 2011/2012 season in Trysil.

Just one day later, he achieved a first place.

Overall, Luitz landed on the podium six times and thus secured second place in the overall standings.

The first World Cup points were not long in coming after the European Cup.

On February 26, 2012, the

in the

giant slalom

in Crans-Montana for the first time and won his first points with a 29th place.

He crowned the season with his second place at the German Ski Championships in the Super

Combined

Only 0.18 seconds separated him from the title of

German champion

2014 Winter Olympics

In the first run the athlete came second, but made a mistake.

At the last gate, he threaded before the goal and was therefore disqualified.
