That should be an exciting duel: In his 13th professional fight, Alex Rigas boxed against an opponent who, like himself, is still unbeaten.

Weilheim

- After his last appearance for the time being last December, in which he had won his twelfth win in the twelfth fight against the Georgian Nikolozi Gviniashvili, Alexander Rigas announced his next ring duel for February or March 2021.

Rigas will keep this promise: "I signed the contracts last week," reported the 28-year-old boxing professional from Weilheim.

His 13th appearance in the professional field takes him, as he did against Gviniashvili shortly before Christmas, to the "Boxclub Eggenstein" not far from Karlsruhe.

There he meets Faton Vukshinaj.

The Swiss, who is a year older than Rigas, has contested 13 professional fights so far.

He won eleven of them, seven times by knockout, the other two fights each ended in a draw - like Rigas, the Swiss is still undefeated.

"This is a strong opponent," said the man from Weilheim about his opponent from Basel, who, however, boxed a weight class lower in the middleweight division.

"I'll go down to this class," says Rigas, who was previously in the super middleweight division.

That means: By the time of the fight on Saturday, February 20th, he has to be a few kilos lighter in order to reach the maximum allowed weight of 72,570 kilos (160 pounds).

For comparison: In its previous weight class, up to 76.203 kilos (168 pounds) are permitted.

Boxing: Rigas and his opponent won many of their fights by knockout

The duel against the 1.75 meter tall Swiss will go over eight rounds, provided there is no premature end.

The latter cannot be ruled out, as both Rigas (battle name “The Great”) and Vukshinaj, who is promoted as “El Vulcano”, meaning the volcano, matching the surname, know how to end fights before the final gong.

Vukshinaj's last fight to date was a long time ago: On December 14, 2019, the Swiss was in the ring for the last time.

at that time he won prematurely by giving up his opponent, the Croatian Frane Radnic.

At Rigas, the preparation is in full swing.

“I am fully focused on the fight,” says Rigas.

The Weilheimer worked in the "CrossFit body forge" in Munich mainly with weights.

But there were also other, quite extraordinary units to get the necessary hardness for the upcoming fight.

“In January I was ice bathing in the Eisbach in the English Garden in Munich,” reveals Rigas.

He has already got a foretaste of an ice-cold appearance in his 13th fight.
