The handball season 2020/21 is now officially a thing of the past. This decision is okay for the clubs from the Weilheim-Schongau district.

The handball season 2020/21 is now officially a thing of the past.

This decision is okay for the clubs from the Weilheim-Schongau district.

District

- This decision was not really a surprise: Last Wednesday, the Bavarian Handball Association (BHV) informed its clubs in a circular that the 2020/21 season would be ended.

"Due to the political requirements, the uncertainty of a possible resumption of indoor sports and the limited time to finish a season with fair sporting standards, the Bavarian Handball Association is unable to do any other", the BHV described this step as without alternative.

It was about time.

All other associations were faster than the BHV.

Michael Sander, second head of department at TSV Weilheim

“From a sporting point of view, of course, I find it a shame and, from a club's point of view, quite difficult.

However, it is the only correct decision, since it is not yet possible to foresee when indoor sports will be able to be played again ”, says Alexandra Vincenzi from the handball department at BSC Oberhausen, who supports the BHV's approach.

Those responsible at TSV Schongau can also understand the decision.

“She doesn't surprise me.

It was just a matter of time, ”said David Schmoldt, coach of the men's team.

Weilheim's women's coach Michael Sander would have liked to act a little faster: “It was about time.

All other associations were faster than the BHV, ”said Sander, who is also the second department head of the Weilheim handball team.

In this role, he also looks at the problems that all clubs in the region will likely face.

“The biggest challenge will be to keep the members in line and to work towards ensuring that they will all come back when it is possible,” says Sander.

Handball: There are neither promoted nor relegated

This is a topic that also drives the BHV.

"We are focusing all activities on the coming round of the game (including the youth qualification) and on training and sports as soon as team sport is allowed again," the association writes.

At the same time, he announced some agreed regulations for the canceled 2020/21 season.

“It is set to the status at the beginning of the season.

There is no evaluation.

There are neither promoted nor relegated ”, the BHV informed the clubs.

The 2021/22 season should be played in the composition and league division as of September 18, 2020.

Teams that had already withdrawn before this deadline are considered relegated.

Those who withdrew after September 18 will remain in their league.

Handball: No unnecessary financial damage should arise for clubs

Financially, the Bavarian handball clubs should not suffer any unnecessary damage from the end of the season.

The BHV therefore promises that game contributions at the association and district level are not due.

Payments that have already been collected should be credited for the coming season.

There will also be compensation for referee costs if games have been played in the season that has started.

"I think the rules that have been found are very good and also the clear cut and the information from the BHV," says Vincenzi, praising the association's approach.

How things will go on for the handball players is still completely open to them, as well as to the other club representatives.

“We do regular online training for some teams, but of course it's not the same.

Everyone is missing the hall, the togetherness, the ball and of course the game itself, ”says Sander.

Handball: BSC Oberhausen wants the leagues to be rectified for the coming season

In Oberhausen, however, people are already thinking about what the coming season might look like.

“It might be helpful if the leagues were straightened out a little.

However, there is no point in philosophizing now because it will take some time until then, ”said Vincenzi, who would like to see much smaller leagues.

Schongau's coach Schmoldt fears a loss of players: "We have to see who will continue after the long break." to look forward and look forward to returning to active sports ”.
