VfL Bochum threatens to lose its direct promotion place in the 2nd Bundesliga.

The Bochum team lost 0: 1 (0: 1) to Erzgebirge Aue.

This gives Hamburger SV on Sunday and Holstein Kiel on Monday the chance to set themselves apart from Bochum.

The three teams started the 22nd matchday tied with 42 points each.

Bochum actually started according to its favorite status.

Gerrit Holtmann had an early chance to take the lead, but only hit the post (4th).

After that Aue got better and better and had good opportunities.

Gaëtan Bussmann took the lead after a corner kick with his head (29th).

Aue remained more dangerous and could have led even higher at the break, but Ben Zolinski's lift over goalkeeper Manuel Riemann landed on the goal net (38th).

After half-time, Bochum got stronger, Silvère Ganvoula had the best chance to equalize, but only hit the crossbar with his header (73).

At Aue, goalkeeper Martin Männel celebrated not only a clean sheet but also a record.

With 419 games for Aue, he is the club's record player.

Eintracht Braunschweig made it to the relegation place for at least one night in the relegation battle.

After three defeats in a row, Braunschweig won 2-0 (0-0) against Jahn Regensburg.

With the three points, Eintracht pushed SV Sandhausen from 16th place in the table.

On Saturday the sand houses could strike back with a win against Paderborn.

Braunschweig's best player in the first half was goalkeeper Jasmin Fejzić.

Early on he parried a dangerous header from David Otto (9th), later he even had to fend off an overhead kick from the Regensburger (29th).

The guests were more dangerous, even hitting the outside post once, but Fejzić made sure that the 0-0 break even lasted.

Braunschweig struck in the second half.

Felix Kroos crossed into the center, Oumar Diakhité extended the ball and Jannis Nikolaou headed for the lead (59th).

The second goal came from a cross: Dominik Wydra brought the ball into the penalty area and Nick Proschwitz headed it 2-0 (65th).
