The Starbulls Rosenheim suffered a 2-3 defeat in Höchstadt on Friday evening.

The gap to the first two places in the table should be too big to attack again above.

The press release in full:

The

Starbulls Rosenheim

remained without points in the away game on Friday evening in Höchstadt.

Coach John Sicinski's team conceded a goal in the first minute of the game and was 3-0 behind halfway through the game.

Two Rosenheim goals shortly before the end

were just cosmetic results.

The chances of Starbulls Rosenheim to climb to second or first place in the table in the final phase of the main round of the ice hockey Oberliga Süd have thus fallen drastically.

The

first part of the game was forgotten from Rosenheim's point of view

.

The Starbulls did not seem to be able to defend themselves against the initial pressure of the home-strong hosts.

Four seconds before the first minute of the game was over, it was enough to follow up the Höchstadter parade row to bring Milan Kostourek into possession of the target in such a way that he was able to insert a clever backhand and too surprisingly for Starbulls goalkeeper Andreas Mechel.

After a diagonal pass from Kostourek into the slot, which Jari Neugebauer typed from close range, the Alligators increased to 2-0 (9th).

Again, the Rosenheim defense in the person of Dennis Schütt only accompanied the action instead of disturbing it, again goalkeeper Mechel had no chance.

On the offensive, the Starbulls were much less likely to be effective than the hosts, although they were unlucky twice.

Once the post of the Höchstadter goal saved (4th), and when Maximilian Vollmayer heaved the disc into the mesh with the penalty indicated, the main referee had prematurely and unnecessarily whistled, fractions of a second before the game device crossed the goal line (14th).

Shortly before the first siren, luck was once on the side of the green-whites: Niklas Jentsch only hit the bar instead of making it 3-0 (19th).

Jentsch then made up for that in the middle of the second third when he cheated a back pass from Guft-Sokolov into the short corner from a very acute angle (31st).

Previously, the Starbulls could ignite little danger for the Höchstadter goal with two overpay opportunities - as well as with a power play chance in the first cut of the game.

The Starbulls had more offensive action than the hosts in the further course of the second section, but the clearest chance to score belonged to the alligators: A clever wrist shot by Kostourek ricocheted off the inside post of the Rosenheim goal back into the field (36th).

Rosenheim's Simon Heidenreich was already in the shower, he received a legitimate game misconduct penalty for a check against Jentsch's head (34th).

The Starbulls started into the last third with commitment

, repeatedly settling in the opposing zone, but still not embarrassing the surprisingly calm and confident young goalkeeper Filip Rieger.

The 19-year-old goalie from Nuremberg's youngsters seemed to be heading towards his first shutout in his first league game over the entire distance.

When the penultimate minute of the game began, the disc finally found its way into the hosts' goal.

The Starbulls played without a goalkeeper and with six field players and Tobias Meier sank a back pass from Alexander Höller from close range to 3-1 (59th).

In the very last second of the game - the green-whites had six again, the home side only four players - Dominik Daxlberger, who deflected a low shot from Kyle Gibbons, shortened to 3: 2.

“In the first third we had great difficulties, because the first block from Höchstadt made us dizzy,” said Rosenheim's head coach John Sicinski after the game.

“In the second third we were better at the game, in the last third we tried everything again.

But the

Höchstadter goalkeeper had a creamy day

.

The opponent was more effective than us today and deserved to win. "

The competition from Regensburg (three points in the 5: 4 victory in Passau) and Selb (one point in the 2: 3 defeat after extra time in Weiden), who are ahead of the Starbulls in the table, scored, so that Rosenheim's chances were third in the table to

be able to leave the top

by the end of the main round

have dropped to a minimum

.

The Eisbären Regensburg are six points away with the same number of games, the Selber Wölfe even eight points (but with two more games played).

On Sunday the Starbulls are free of play, on Tuesday they will receive the EC Peiting in the ROFA stadium at home (7.30 p.m., live broadcast on www.sprade.tv).
