Eintracht Frankfurt beats Bayern Munich: goal for Fatih Saraçoğlu

FC Bayern Munich has lost at Eintracht Frankfurt and is heading into a crisis. But more important was the message that Amin Younes held in his hands after his hit.

Scene of the game:

Amin Younes withdrew straight away, the ball hit the right angle of the Bayern goal, Frankfurt took a 2-0 lead.

But that wasn't Younes' only thought.

He cheered briefly, but then ran to the substitutes' bench and held up a sweater reminiscent of Fatih Saraçoğlu, one of the nine deaths in the racist attack in Hanau.

Survivors of the attack report on their alienation from Germany: The Hanau Protocols by Özlem Gezer and Timofey Neshitov

For Hanau:

Ferhat Unvar, Hamza Kurtović, Said Nesar Hashemi, Vili-Viorel Păun, Mercedes Kierpacz, Kaloyan Velkov, Fatih Saraçoğlu, Sedat Gürbüz and Gökhan Gültekin were murdered by a racist on February 19, 2020.

Friday was the first anniversary of the terrorist attack, and the Bundesliga also commemorated the dead.

The Frankfurt team wore jackets with the names and faces of the dead and the hashtag #saytheirnames (says their names) when they warmed up.

Depressed:

"I was very depressed, very moved," said Younes about the anniversary of the attack.

He wanted "the family members to know that we were thinking of them."

Result:

Eintracht Frankfurt won 2-1 (2-0) against FC Bayern Munich.

Here you can read everything you need to know about the Bundesliga games on Saturday afternoon.

Did you learn at all?

To the sporty.

Manuel Neuer knew why Bayern lost.

"Because we didn't learn from the Bielefeld game," he said on Sky.

Against Arminia, the German champions were sensationally 2-0 down on Monday.

The only question is: Have the Bavarians learned nothing or simply couldn't put what they learned into practice?

Both possibilities should concern those responsible.

In any case, in view of the personnel failures, it became clear again why coach Hans-Dieter Flick does not like to rely on alternative workers.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting was barely noticeable as a tenth, sixth Marc Roca - who made his fourth Bundesliga game - was replaced at break.

And Niklas Süle was often lost as a right-back against the fast Filip Kostic.

First half:

Frankfurt started boldly, with more urge to goal.

And then ...

Interruption:

... assistant referee Mike Pickel injured himself.

After he was twisted, pimples had to be treated inside the stadium.

After about five minutes, the fourth official Tobias Reichel took over the flag and the game could go on.

But now:

Despite the interruption, Frankfurt still wanted to play football - and how.

Eintracht kept pushing forward to the Bayern penalty area, looking for deals.

And when Leroy Sané and Süle were outplayed on their right side, the goal fell: Kostic fit inside and Daichi Kamada pushed in to make it 1-0.

Maybe not his best goal, but true

Kamadistas

will have been happy for him anyway (12th minute).

Frankfurt remained the better team.

Younes in particular posed problems for defense with dribbles.

When he even tried to outsmart Neuer with a shot from the center line, he already seemed cocky, but later scored 2-0 (31st).

Desire for goals:

Actually, the top game should also become a great duel between the top scorers.

Bayern's Robert Lewandowski scored 25 goals before the game, while Frankfurt's André Silva scored 18. The fact that Silva was out for this game because of back problems did nothing in the first half.

On the one hand, Lewandowski initially remained inconspicuous, on the other hand, Eintracht set the club record even without Silva.

In the eleventh Bundesliga game in a row, Frankfurt scored at least two goals.

The club had only succeeded in doing this in 1977.

The faked twist:

Munich already had their chances at the end of the first half, and in the second half they completely took control of the game.

Frankfurt couldn't play 90 minutes as intensely as at the beginning, Younes was already struggling with cramps 20 minutes before the end.

And so it came to the connection goal: After good preparatory work by Sané, Lewandowski scored 1: 2.

But anyone who hoped to catch up like against Bielefeld was disappointed.

Bayern had good chances, but didn't score again and were lucky that Frankfurt didn't get a penalty after Alphonso Davies' duel against Ragnar Ache.

Otherwise, Eintracht's ninth win in the last ten Bundesliga games would have been perfect earlier.

One lesson:

What do Bayern learn from the Frankfurt game?

Captain Neuer praised the second half.

"If we play like this from the start, we'll win the game by a certain amount," he said.

It seemed like he was ignoring that his team had just lost.

On the other hand, he also had to encourage his colleagues.

You will need it for the coming weeks.

Is that a crisis already?

FC Bayern has not won the Bundesliga since winning the Club World Cup.

There were only two Bundesliga games on the agenda, but the Munich team usually plan more than one point against Bielefeld and Frankfurt.

If pursuer Leipzig wins against Hertha BSC on Sunday, Bayern are only two points ahead and the title race will be more exciting again.

With this poor form, the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Lazio is due on Tuesday.

Then Bayern need two second halves.
