The German biathlon team will fight for the last World Cup medals on Sunday.

The women and men can ensure a conciliatory conclusion in the mass start.

The live ticker.

  • On the final day of the Biathlon World Cup in Pokljuka, Slovenia, there are two more decisions to be made.

  • At 12.30 p.m. the women are challenged in the mass start, at 3.15 p.m. the men follow suit.

  • Does the DSV * team use their last World Cup chance?

We'll be accompanying both races on Sunday in the live ticker.

Pokljuka - For women and men * it is the last chance to top up their medal account.

At the Biathlon World Cup, the mass start is on the program on the final day.

The German biathletes have so far received nothing in the individual decisions.

Neither in the sprint, nor in the pursuit or in the individual, precious metal has so far jumped out.

For the first time since 1997, the German women could stay at a World Cup without an individual medal.

The women came close several times with good placements in the top 10, but did not make it onto the podium.

In the women's mass start over 12.5 kilometers, after one and a half weeks of the World Cup, the power reserves also decide.

With good shooting you can swim well in the slipstream of the leading group.

Denise Herrmann *, Franziska Preuß * and Vanessa Hinz * are nominated for the race on Sunday afternoon.

Hinz and Preuss have each had a World Cup victory so far - both won in the mass start.

However, up to now there have been problems with running, repeatedly many shooting errors - too often there were problems in the crucial situations.

“You can't paint it all completely black, this is not a children's birthday party here,” said Herrmann, defending the team from overly harsh criticism.

The ex-world champion struggled with her running form on the Pokljuka and is not in the physical condition as in previous years, when she was in top shape.

“Our claim is of course medals,” said Herrmann and assured: “We have a few girls who can do it.” The men also think they have opportunities.

Biathlon World Cup in the live ticker: Peiffer wants to gild his silver coup in the mass start

Arnd Peiffer * secured the only medal with silver in the individual.

On Sunday afternoon in the mass start over 15 kilometers, the DSV star wants to attack again and is only supported by Benedikt Doll *.

"We are a little underrepresented, so we have to compensate for that with particularly good performances so that the German colors can be seen," said Peiffer.

The 33-year-old won the only German win of the season in the mass start of Hochfilzen shortly before Christmas.

At world championships, however, neither Peiffer nor Doll won a medal in this discipline.

The last German World Cup victories in the mass start were celebrated in 2017 in Hochfilzen by Simon Schempp * and Laura Dahlmeier, who have already resigned - so it is time for the next gold medal.
