Novak Djokovic is the Australian champion for the ninth time in his career and the third in a row.
The world number one today (Sunday) in the final in Melbourne defeated Daniel Medvedev (4) with a result of 5: 7, 2: 6, 2: 6 and won the 18th Grand Slam title of his career.
Nola broke already in the opening and went up to 0: 3 in the first set, but his Russian opponent broke back and shrank to 2: 3.
From here the two kept their submissions until the end of the campaign, which ended in 5: 7 for the Serbs.
In the second set Medvedev broke in the first game, but then Djokovic returned with three breaks and took the set with a great 2: 6.
In the third set, Nola remained in control and went up to a light 0: 3, and sailed to 2: 6 at the end.
Djokovic now has 18 Grand Slam titles, half of which were achieved at the Australian Championships (2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2019, 2020, 2021).
The tournament in Melbourne is his favorite - in which he never lost a final, and in which he has won the last three years in a row.
Nola came close to Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, each with 20 career Grand Slam wins.
